So many intricate layers make up who we are and what makes us tick. The pigment used here is worked from scorched earth in war-torn countries. In my mind while working this were the machinations which are leading to all the suffering in Gaza. Damn right and wrong...just stop the killing. Watercolor and scorched earth.

Scorched earth is a war tactic when land is burnt to prevent it's use. It can be employed by defender (eg Russia against Napoleon) to prevent aggressor gaining supplies or by the aggressor (eg by Union army in the American Civil War) to prevent economic revival.

In this case, the pigment was made by MIGRATE for Jackson's in 2020

from ash from burnt crops in Iraqi Kurdistan, which were destroyed deliberately by militia groups.
