Attard Parish Church

Churches and chapels abound in Malta and Gozo and a fresh take on this subject is very difficult. Here I relied on the use of texture and the vibrancy of the colours to transmit a particular message. The subject may be one which has been worked to distraction but it can remain vibrant. Like faith, it's been around for millennia but that does not mean it is outdated. The layers on this watercolour have been added painstakingly to retain the freshness of the medium yet give it depth. The final gold highlight gives the intricate design a distinct majesty.
