Dreamcatcher

This tiny priceless statue has been an inspiration to so many artists. I simply could not let it pass by and not include it in the Early Malta series. After the highly stylised Cittadella, this little lady simply wanted to flow out of my brushes. And what a joy it was. In several shades of blue, the haunting beauty of this curvaceous Venus seemed to blossom. As wash piled upon wash, it felt almost like a reverse dance of the seven veils, with each wash revealing another facet of this dreamy maiden. Certainly not one to hide her curves, she channels her inner fashionista into a pleated skirt. I could almost feel the sculptor, who, with bated breath, caught her unawares as she was chasing her dreams in the arms of a pre-historic version of Morpheus, trembling with passion as he captured each curve.

While her face is quite bland, I could feel that she approved of the result...and the attention.
